Personalise your Scottish civil wedding ceremony
Congratulations to any engaged couple reading this post! Whether you’re already resident in Scotland and planning your wedding somewhere meaningful to you, or you’re travelling there for a romantic elopement or civil ceremony in a particular venue, the country has a wealth of wonderful natural locations and spectacular historic venues to choose from. It also has a very sensible and open-minded attitude towards embracing creative wedding scripts as well, so if you’re looking to personalise your Scottish civil wedding ceremony, you’re in the right place.
My name is Hannah Wroe Gill and I’m an experienced writer based in West Yorkshire, writing for clients all over the UK and worldwide. It doesn’t matter that I’m not based in Scotland as everything I do happens remotely, so geography isn’t a problem. So who do I write for? I work with couples who want to make their wedding ceremony truly their own, by adding bespoke writing to it that’s created from their words and perhaps those of their loved ones too. It’s not just about the resulting text though. The unique creative process I use is really special in itself and so rewarding.
‘We needed help create a bespoke piece of writing that explained how much we mean to one another, guidance to put our hearts down on paper, making sure we didn’t miss anything vital. We got all of that and more.’
Luke + Ewan
There are all sorts of different forms my bespoke wedding ceremony writing can take: short or long, spoken by you or by whoever is leading the ceremony, a central feature or in a more complementary role. It really depends on what suits you and your ceremony best. However, just to give you a flavour you might choose from an entertaining ‘Story so far’ section, capturing your journey together to this point; a reading (or pair of readings), written with friends and/or family members’ words; a set of touching personal vows or a well-wishing embodying loved ones’ hopes for your future.
I also offer a bespoke reception writing range as well, which is worth bearing in mind whether you’re looking for help with a more traditional toast or speech or you would like to explore what else is possible. These pieces can be written with just your words, such as with a groom’s speech, or could involve the words of others as well e.g. a mother of the bride’s toast including the words of other family members too. This sort of more inclusive model can work very well in any reception setting, but it comes into its own if you are planning an elopement and not all your loved ones can attend.

If you would like to learn more about my bespoke writing range for wedding ceremonies and receptions do take a look at the dedicated sections of this site. Any and all questions are welcome so just get in touch if you’d like to. I look forward to hearing from you.
